Sutton Bank National Park Centre
Sutton Bank National Park Centre is a fantastic location for walking, hiking and biking with wonderful views over over the North York Moors, Hood Hill, Gormire Lake and the Vale of Mowbray. “Finest in England” was what vet and author James Herriot described the tremendous view from Sutton Bank escarpment. Go to the visitor centre, grab a tea, coffee or snack in the cafe. Hire a bike from the very well equipped shop and enjoy the well marked trails (graded for all abilities). Or, wait until it is dark and enjoy the array of stars on a clear night, one of three such Dark Sky Discovery Sites in the North York Moors. There is an excellent 3 mile walk to view the White Horse at Kilburn too.
