Views to North York Moors

Countryside Location

We are in the heart of the North York Moors National Park, soak up the views and the incredible peace and quiet. With moorland, forest, rivers and streams, nature surrounds us, there is so much birdlife, soothing birdsong and wildlife everywhere. Early morning and late evening you may well see fallow and roe deer. Many bird varieties visit the farm, badgers, fox, stoats and weasels can often be seen from around the farm and from the balcony. There is no where better to be to relax and enjoy this amazing countryside and natural surroundings.

Great Local Walks

We are in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. Walk from our door across the River Seven at Hartoft Bridge and up onto Spaunton Moor, Wheeldale or Rosedale Moor or head out into the many trails and well marked footpaths in Cropton Forest. There are many other lovely walks and a popular option is to walk down to our favourite pub, the Blacksmith's Arms at Lastingham. A longer circular walk follows the River Seven up to Rosedale Abbey, up Rosedale Chimney Bank an take the Lastingam Ridge path before returning via the stepping stones by Hartoft Bridge and back home to the Barn.

All of our guests comment on the incredible views from the Barn at Rigg End. Whether you are chilling with a sundowner in the garden, sitting relaxing in the living room or dining out with a BBQ out 'al fresco' on the balcony you are surrounded by a great a outlook and vista. Late July and August brings out the vibrant purple colour in the heater on the moorlands. Bring your binoculars to watch the wildlife in the woods and up on the hills.
